Art Swappers is about an annual international postal exchange of unique, hand worked art papers called signatures.  

 

Entry is now open to all artists for the 2012 international book signature exchange – for those artists interested in unique single edition artist books, art papers, art journals and handmade books

 

Definition of a signature: a number of paper sheets each folded in half, fitted together snugly = one signature.   A set of signatures stacked together form the codex or text block of a book.

 

How to take part:

- make 11 sets of book signatures, each containing 2 sheets (see How to page)- and send them to me before 20 September 2012

- one of your signatures goes into the exhibition/competition and becomes part of the prize while you receive back 10 signatures from 10 different artists world wide

***    if you would rather not be part of the competition thing, include a note in your entry to that effect, and  you will receive the same number of signatures back from the exchange that you sent in    ***

- mark which one of your signatures should go into the competition.  This signature will also go into an exhibition in New Zealand, location to be confirmed

- the online exhibition/competition will be on during the month of October 2012

- a winning signature will be determined by a small panel of judges and announced on the 31st of October 2012

- the winner will be notified by email

- the winner receives the complete online exhibition as prize (as well as the 10 signatures from the exchange, (or the number you sent in))

- entry fee is $20 NZD, my (VanillaBlue) Paypal button is to the right, payable before you post off. By taking part in this exchange

- you give permission for the publishing of images of your submitted work on the web and in print for promotional purposes, copyright remains with the artist

- all artists above age 16 welcome, all work in correct format will be accepted, but please keep in mind that our viewers may include children.  I wouldn’t want to return work deemed unacceptable for whatever reason.  No correspondence will be entered into about this

- you accept that I will not be responsible for any loss in the post or otherwise or damage of any kind to your work (although we are holding thumbs that this will not happen and will take due care from this side)

-you accept that I will take no responsibility for injury of any kind resulting from this exchange
